Fans of the hit animated film “My Neighbor Totoro” will want to take note of a special spot near Misawa Air Base.

Parishioners and groundskeepers at the Misaki Shrine in Konakano Town, Hachinohe City, have brought Totoro from the 1988 Hayao Miyazaki film to life in shrub form. If you’re at Misawa, it’s only a 40-minute drive to visit the Studio Ghibli darling.

Act quick, the carefully trimmed and maintained Totoro will not be there long because the groundskeepers change the shape of the shrub every season, according to the shrine’s Facebook page. So, if you’re in the area, make sure and catch Totoro under his umbrella before he catches the next Catbus out of town!
