A short one-hour drive from Misawa Air Base, Kabushima Jinja is a Shinto shrine known for hundreds of thousands of seagulls which fly in during the season.

Every year, the seagulls visit the shrine from late March to mid-August after laying eggs and hatching their young.

The impressive shrine and countless seagulls make an overwhelming view and a lot of people visit for good luck in business and travel safety.

Today’s Japanese phrase is:

“Ichimenno umineko desu!” 一面のうみねこです! = It is filled/covered with countless seagulls!

“ichimenno” 一面の = being filled/covered with countless .. , "umineko" うみねこ = seagulls, ..desu です = it is ..

Kabushima Jinja is known as a strong power spot worth visiting if you seek for good luck. Seagulls will leave the shrine by the end of August, so visit and check this unique shrine in this summer!
