Verny Park, next door to Yokosuka Naval Base, is a popular place to see both U.S. and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force ships. The park is named after a French engineer who founded Japan’s first Western-style shipyard in 1871. The spacious park is home to various trees and flowers (roses are especially famous!), and at dusk, the area is illuminated with beautiful lights perfect for a romantic stroll along the bay.
