Fall is definitely in the air across Japan's Kanto Plain. Over the weekend, a cold front swept across, leaving snow in some areas of Tohoku and the Kanto Regions. Sprinklings were reported in Aomori Prefecture, which is home to Misawa Air Base, and peaks like Mt. Hakkoda, Mt. Zao and Mt. Hotaka.
Fumiaki Oguri at the Stars and Stripes Misawa Office said he saw a flock of swans flying overhead. These Siberian beauties arrive in Japan for winter to avoid the freezing temperatures of their native land.
Down south a bit, in the Kanto, I woke up to a view of Mt. Fuji’s snowcap looking a little bit thicker since it first appeared in September. I managed to get a couple of photos of the majestic mount from my home near Yokosuka Naval Base. I'm sure others have taken photos of snow-capped Fuji or other mountains.
