In Japan, winter means that many open-air amusement parks roll out colorful dazzling illumination events sure to keep you entertained and in the holiday spirit.
Near Yokota Air Base, Sanrio Puroland, home to Hello Kitty, My Melody and all the other Sanrio characters, are taking the illumination indoors. “Puro Illumination Christmas” offers a wonderful holiday feel while avoiding the chilly winter winds.
The event, which runs through Dec. 25, includes various kawaii activities like “Starry Starry Christmas Party,” a parade featuring Little Twin Stars, and other characters dressed in star costumes and dancing along to holiday music. The audience is encouraged to participate by shining their cellphone flashlight to create a sea of stars.
“Shooting stars with Little Twin Stars,” another activity, is a virtual reality immersive experience to take you on a journey to the stars with Kiki and Lala.
Hit all the photo spots decorated with star-shaped objects and champagne-gold illuminations for some great pics with your favorite Sanrio characters. Don’t miss the holiday-themed foods and merchandise. Currently, the cafés in the theme park are offering Colorful Peach x Puroland Illumination Christmas collaboration merchandise and a rainbow peach parfait and a Shooting Star Hamburger Pink Curry, which is a My Melody-shaped rice ball with a star-shaped hamburger patty.
Sanrio Puroland is a great draw for families and Sanrio fans. You’ll definitely want to enjoy the warm illuminations indoors with your favorite Sanrio characters this holiday season!
