A popular Misawa autumn event, Misawa Kokusai Air Fest returned on Sept. 10.

The base welcomed over 70,000 visitors over the weekend for the return of the fest. This year, there were no pandemic-era restrictions and festivalgoers came from all over the region.

During the festival, visitors enjoyed static military aircraft displays, food and game booths and live entertainment. Throughout the day, there were flight demonstrations including F-35A, F-15, F-16, E-2D, P-8, C-17, UH-60J, CV-22, UC-60s and CH-47Js. JASDF’s aerobatic demonstration team “Blue Impulse” even demonstrated their acrobatic prowess.

Rainy weather on Sept. 9 did ground the Osprey display, but on Sept. 10, the sunny weather meant the festival could go on as planned with all the flight demonstrations.

The Misawa Kokusai Air Fest event is held annually in the fall, so make plans to check this fun event next year!
