An annual event at Misawa Air Base kicked off with crowds enjoying aircraft displays, live music, lots of food and other performances on Sept. 8.

Misawa Kokusai Air Fest is an open-base event and welcomed over 40,000 visitors to participate in the festivities showcasing the aircraft. The displays included 36 aircraft from the U.S. Air force and Japan Self-Defense Forces and performances by the USAF Wings of Blue Parachute Team and the PACAF F-16 Demo Team.

Visitors were also treated to the Misawa International Motor Show, Strongman Competition, K-9 Demo and Bilateral Weapons Load competition.

“It was a beautiful, hot day on Sunday and we were able to enjoy the long-awaited event,” Yoshihito Morita, a base commissary employee said.

“The flight displays were unbelievable and the live music by the JSDF band was impressive,” Morita added.

Make plans and don’t miss next year’s Misawa Kokusai Air Fest.
