The popular Misawa Kokusai Air Fest returns Sept. 8.

The annual fest at Misawa Air Base features aircraft displays, live music food vendors and other performances. The event is open to both on-base and local nationals, officials announced.

Last year’s event drew no less than 70,000 visitors to the base.

Some of the aircraft on display will include U.S. Air Force F-16, F-18 and P-8, along with Japan Self-Defense Forces aircrafts like F-35A, F-2, F-15, RQ-4B and more.

Demonstrations scheduled include the USAF Wings of Blue Parachute Team and the PACAF F-16 Demo Team. Visitors will also be treated to a Misawa International Motor Show, Strongman Competition, K-9 Demo and Bilateral Weapons Load competition.

Visitors can get photos with the jet fighters, and children are able to sit in the cockpit of some of the aircraft to feel like an air force pilot.

AFN will be broadcasting on AM 1575 live from the fest.

Japanese guests must present a government-issued photo ID, such as passport, my number card and driver’s license, upon entry. Bag checks will also be done at the gate.
