It’s that time of year again when ghosts and goblins visit for some sweet treats and Halloween fun. The holiday is fast-approaching and there are many fun activities for kids of all ages. Don’t let the fun of the season pass you by.

A list of what to expect on your base follows. Keep in mind that each base has different requirements and rules in place, so visit your local command’s Facebook page or website for updates. Also note events are subject to change at the discretion of base officials.

Misawa

Trick or Treat

  • Date: Oct. 31

  • Hours: 4 – 8 p.m.

  • Location: Misawa AB Housing Areas (North & South)

Rules: All Misawa AB personnel with base escort privileges can bring off-base guests (up to 25 per sponsor). Authorized sponsors include active-duty military, DOD civilians, military retirees, contractors, and MLCs/IHAs with escort privileges. Non-residents must be accompanied by a sponsor, and access requests should be submitted by Oct. 25, 2024.

Yokota

Trick or Treat

  • Date: Oct. 26

  • Hours: 5 - 9 p.m.

Rules: DOD ID card holders, Master Labor Contract (MLC), Indirect Hire Agreement (IHA), and Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) partners may sponsor a maximum of 10 visitors, to include children, and up to one vehicle onto the installation for trick-or-treating. Escorts are not required to pre-coordinate entry for their visitors prior to Halloween night. Escorts are the only ones allowed to drive onto the installation. Visitors will ride with escorts onto the installation or meet their escorts on-foot at the Fussa Gate to escort them to the trick-or-treat location. Escorts will only take their visitors to the trick-or-treat locations on base.

Yokosuka

Trick or Treat

  • Bowling Pin Decorating Contest: Oct. 1 - 22 at Yokosuka Bowling Center

  • Pumpkin Run: Oct. 19, 9 a.m. at Ikego Housing

  • Mason Jar Pumpkin Crafting Contest: Oct. 21 – 30, all day, at Liberty Center

  • Halloween Face Painting Challenge: Oct. 25 – 31, all day, at Liberty Center

Atsugi

Trick or Treat

  • Date: Oct. 31

  • Hours: 4 – 7 p.m.

Rules: Guests from off-base will be allowed to come onboard the installation; NAF Atsugi Security will provide further details prior to the event.

Camp Zama & Sagamihara Housing Area

Trick or Treat

  • Date: Oct. 31

  • Hours: 6 – 8 p.m.

Rules: DOA civilians, dependents with and retirees with valid ID cards; MLC/IHA employees and JGSDF members can escort up to seven adult guests (18 years or older) each and one vehicle onto Camp Zama or SHA. Each of the seven adult guests can additionally have up to three children under the age of 18 with them, plus up to three additional children 17 and younger. Ages 17 and younger will not require passes but must be escorted by an adult.

Each adult guest must bring a valid form of ID, such as Japanese driver’s license, passport, Japan Self-Defense Forces ID card, permanent residence card, “Kokka komuinsho,” or my number card with Juminhyo. JGSDF personnel must be registered in DBIDS to sponsor personnel.

All Y- or A-plated vehicles, and vehicles with a valid pass for driving on base, will be allowed. Sponsors must request passes in advance for all guests 18 and older. The deadline to submit a pass request is Oct. 25. Personnel can request and submit the forms via email to usarmy.zama.id-pacific.mbx.usagj-des-pass-office@army.mil.

MWR Halloween Events

Purple Pumpkin Decorating Contest: Oct. 25, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. ACS. Pick up your free pumpkin at ACS and bring your decorated pumpkin back to ACS at the event. For more information, call 263-4357.

Haunted Hangar & Trunk or Treat: Oct. 26, 5 – 8 p.m. Camp Zama Airfield. Aircraft display, costume contest, Haunted Hangar, Trunk or Treat.

SHA Halloween 3K Run 2024: Oct. 25, 6:30 p.m. SHA. Register before the start of the race. Runners are encouraged to run in Halloween costumes.

Iwakuni

Trunk or Treat

  • Date: Oct. 30

  • Hours: 3:30 - 6 p.m.

Don your favorite Halloween costumes and come Trunk or Treat at the MCX Parking lot.

Trick or Treat

  • Hours: 5 – 8 p.m.

It’s that time to go and put your spooky costumes on and get some candy. Visit the housing for some trick or treating. Open to all SOFA members and guests, as well as to MLC/IHA/JMSDF and their families. More information on these trick or treating events to follow.

Radio Tower of Terror: Oct. 25 and 26, 5 - 10 p.m. Join the SMP for its fourth annual Radio Tower of Terror Haunted House at AFN.

Universal Studios Japan Halloween Party: Oct. 26, 4:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Don your favorite Halloween costumes and dive into a world of thrills and chills. Contact IT & T for more information.
