Okinawan dialect is known for its uniqueness. Most of its words and phrases may not make any sense to people from other parts of the country. However, the roots of the local language can be traced back to an ancient Japanese language. In fact, there are some old words that are no longer used for the current Japanese language but remain as part of the local dialect.
