You may think all public baths in Japan are called onsen, but that’s not the case. There is another type of public bath called a sento. Usually located in the center of a town, sento uses tap or well water (often added are artificial bathing salts, various herbs, milk or even sake to enhance bathing effects) and admission fees range from 350 yen to 520 yen ($3-5).
