If you like to eat a lot of tasty seafood, I found the restaurant for you in Odawara, Japan. Aburiya is a seafood restaurant that serves a wide variety of freshly caught seafood that will knock your socks off.

There were many types of fresh seafood I was familiar with, from aji, sama and red snapper to shrimp, clams and squid. There were other cuts of fish laid out in straw baskets that they were replaced as they ran out.

Aburiya is a place where you can taste different varieties of seafood you’ve never eaten before. I was actually looking forward to eating some snow crab, but it wasn’t on the buffet. But everything they did serve was very delicious.

On top of the seafood, they also offered oden, corn, miso soup and delicious side orders that are prepared differently daily.

The best part of Aburiya, is you cook up your own at at the table. It’s lot of fun. Nothing complex, just lay it on the grill, turn over a time or two and it’s ready to go. You have 80 minutes (3.000 yen for adults), which is plenty of time.

Shrimp took about 90 seconds each side. But be careful because seafood cooks faster that meat. Oh, a tip from me: Eat as many shrimp as you can!

The grill and the table are quite small, but it was good for two people. The delicious food made up for the small tables.

How to get there

Put the data into your navigator for Aburiya Restaurant Odawara. It’s a little bit tricky to get there and it’s near the sea. Parking is free, so just keep driving around until a spot becomes available.
