I can’t think of a better way to enjoy lunch and get a small taste of back home than going to Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen. Even though we are far away from our hometowns in America, Popeyes' food still brings us comfort.

The authentic Cajun taste you’ll find at this fast food joint comes from the cayenne pepper and paprika topped off with a smokey garlicky onion flavor for a real punch. When I visit the Popeyes on NAF Atsugi, I order my favorite chicken tenders because they’re always hot, delicious and made to order.

My favorite side order is red beans and rice and the employees at the Atsugi location make them taste just like at home. And that goes for all their side items including the green beans, mac and cheese, mash potatoes, coleslaw and fries. They all have that certain something that makes you want more.

Other items on the menu include fried chicken breast, legs, wings, popcorn shrimp and the famous chicken sandwich. For dessert, Popeyes has chocolate chip cookies and apple pies.

Though there are many options, I still can’t get away from ordering their chicken tenders which I dip in their special ranch sauce.

The Atsugi Popeyes staff are very friendly and always do a professional job. The 3-piece Chicken Tender Combo costs $10.05 and comes with a small drink and one regular side item. Give them a try and you’ll be as happy as I was to still be able to enjoy the cajun taste of home here in Japan.
