(Yokosuka Oktoberfest in Spring)
German beer, food and culture enthusiasts in Yokosuka, rejoice! The Yokosuka Oktoberfest in Spring is running at Verny Park from May 10 through May 19.
The outdoor venue is next to Yokosuka Naval Base and will feature a very Bavarian atmosphere with beer, of course, and many food booths to try.
Enjoy German foods, drinks, live entertainment and more. The Seventh Fleet Band is also slated to perform at the festival.
Verny Park is a popular place to see both U.S. and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force ships. The park is named after a French engineer who founded Japan’s first Western-style shipyard in 1871. The spacious park is home to various trees and flowers (roses are especially famous here!). At dusk, the area is illuminated with beautiful lights perfect for a romantic stroll along the bay.
Admission to the event is free, but you need to buy drinks and food at each booth. German craft beers are sold for about 1,200 yen (300 ml) or 1,600 yen (500 ml).
