Yokota AB, Fussa community partner in safety

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- Team Yokota joined the Fussa Police Department and members of the local community for the annual Year-End Joint Patrol in Fussa, Japan, Dec. 22. The joint patrol is conducted through the streets of Fussa at the end of each year to promote safety and highlight the partnership between the U.S. Air Force and its neighboring communities.
During the event’s opening remarks, Col. Andrew Roddan, 374th Airlift Wing commander, expressed his appreciation for the ongoing partnership with the Fussa Police Department.
“The safety of our Yokota personnel and the off-base community is a top priority to both of our organizations,” said Roddan. “I cannot be more grateful to stand alongside these men and women as we get ready to patrol the area in solidarity today.”
This year, there were more than 80 participants in attendance as the patrol traveled through Fussa’s popular nightlife areas.
The servicemembers, policemen, and volunteers held banners that declared a shared commitment toward crime prevention, anti-terrorism, and disaster preparedness.
“We will continue to participate in joint crime prevention patrols with the Fussa City Police Department to show our dedication to the local community and cooperation with our counterparts in this shared fight against crime,” said Roddan.
