CAMP FUJI – The Yokota/Camp Fuji Exchange was crowned among the best of the best at the Army & Air Force Exchange Service’s annual conference, receiving the organization’s highest honor, the Director/CEO Cup.

The Yokota/Camp Fuji Exchange— which encompasses Camp Fuji facilities—was selected from among nearly 100 eligible Exchange stores for its exceptional service to the military.

Camp Fuji Commanding Officer Neil Owens wrote a letter in support of the Yokota/Camp Fuji Exchange’s nomination, detailing how the store has served the community.

“The Quality of Life initiatives provided by the Yokota/Camp Fuji Exchange team have exceed expectation and have been vital to supporting the operations and training of the over 11,000 service members who come to CATC Camp Fuji annually…The Exchange is one of the few resources that allows training personnel to take advantage of the ‘comforts of home,’” Owens wrote. “On an installation that lacks a commissary and other amenities common to larger installations, the team at the Exchange have worked diligently to provide beyond what would normally be expected of a facility of this size.”

Owens also commended the Exchange for adding an option to donate to the Marine Relief Society on its PIN pads and working creatively within its small footprint to provide service members with what they need.

“The Yokota and Camp Fuji Exchange team shows up every day because they love serving the military community,” said Yokota/Camp Fuji Exchange General Manager Andrew Defelice. “It’s a huge honor and also very humbling to receive this award. It’s a great reminder of why we do what we do.”

One winner and one runner-up were awarded the Director/CEO Cup in each of four size categories, based on sales volume: Mega, Large, Medium and Small. The Yokota/Camp Fuji Exchange was the runner-up in the medium category.

The winners were selected based on customer experience, leadership, business results, marketing efforts and community presence.
