YOKOTA AIR BASE – The Yokota/Camp Fuji Exchange was crowned among the best of the best at the Army & Air Force Exchange Service’s annual conference, receiving the organization’s highest honor, the Director/CEO Cup.

The Yokota/Camp Fuji Exchange— which encompasses a main store, three Expresses, a Military Clothing store, 10 restaurants, a theater and more, including Camp Fuji facilities—was selected from among nearly 100 eligible Exchange stores for its exceptional service to the military.

374tn Airlift Wing Commander Col. Andrew Roddan wrote a letter in support of the Yokota/Camp Fuji Exchange’s nomination, detailing how the Exchange has served the community. In particular, Roddan thanked the Exchange for its support in the aftermath of the Gundam 22 tragedy.

“As the community reeled, our Exchange was contacted to assist in uniforming our fallen Heroes…The Military Clothing store met the task expediently,” Roddan noted. “In addition, the Exchange’s Allied Telesis concession offered free Wi-Fi supporting special teams brought in for the unfortunate incident. Two moving examples of your core value ‘Family Serving Family.’”

Roddan also commended the Exchange for its collaboration with mission partners for morale-boosting community events and for provided alternative solutions in gas, food and internet services. He also praised the Exchange’s Japan Area Distribution Center for its support to Andersen AFB in Guam after Typhoon Mawar.

“The Yokota/Camp Fuji Exchange team shows up every day because they love serving the military community,” said Yokota/Camp Fuji Exchange General Manager Andrew Defelice. “It’s a huge honor and also very humbling to receive this award. It’s a great reminder of why we do what we do.”

One winner and one runner-up were awarded the Director/CEO Cup in each of four size categories, based on sales volume: Mega, Large, Medium and Small. The Yokota/Camp Fuji Exchange was the runner-up in the medium category.

The winners were selected based on customer experience, leadership, business results, marketing efforts and community presence.
