On Sunday September 29th, Camp Fuji Marines and Sailors visited “Hakone Keisei Gakuen” orphanage in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture.

Hakone Kemei Gakuen was originally established in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo in 1946 to accept war orphans. In May 2019, the school moved to its current location where around 40 students age 0 to 18 reside and study together.

The children and Marines spent 2 hours playing baseball, soccer, jump rope, and hula hoops. The younger children enjoyed making birthday cakes with sand and riding bicycles.

We are planning to visiting the orphanage again this Christmas! Spending time in the local community gives our Marines a chance to broaden their perspective and prosper our alliance. Thank you to everyone who attended!
