CAMP ZAMA, Japan (Oct. 26, 2018) -- Dozens of Japanese children from local communities took part in the annual Halloween trunk-or-treat event hosted by 35th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion on Oct. 24 on Sagami General Depot.
Captain Nathan Seaman, commander of the 35th CSSB's 623rd Movement Control Team, said one of the standards for his unit's "Samurai Soldiers" is that they all act as ambassadors.
"This is a great opportunity for the Soldiers to get out here and be ambassadors for the United States and the U.S. Army as well and to showcase how we are embracing the community around us," said Seaman.
Mina Harada, a 9-year-old, participant, said getting her face painted by an American was one of her favorite activities during the event.
"It was great to spend a time with foreign people and experience foreign culture," said Mina.
Specialist Jonathan Kitchen, a 35th CSSB soldier and event coordinator, said that event allowed the visitors and soldiers to learn a little bit more about each other, and was a morale-booster for the Soldiers.
"Seeing all the kids with smile makes their day," said Kitchen.
