JAPAN

It has been reported recently that some beachgoers were stung by box jellyfish in Okinawa. The prefectural government of Okinawa has issued a warning against the venomous sea creature, which is effective until the end of August.

“Habu Kurage Keihou ga Hatsurei saremashita”, which means “A warning has been issued against box jellyfish.”

(“Habu Kurage” – box jellyfish, “ga” – an article to indicate a subject, “Hatsurei (suru)” – issue, “saremashita” – have been done)

You should not take jellyfish lightly because you could lose consciousness if you are stung by them. Be careful out there and enjoy the water. See you in the next episode of Speakin’ Japanese!
