Take a drive and meet spring again about 40-minutes away from Yokosuka Naval Base. Kawazusakura blossoms are an early-blooming variety of Japan’s favorite flower and Komatsugaike Pond in Muira Peninsula is a great place to get a fresh breath of spring air and a close up look at the signs of the season. Visitors will also be treated to bright yellow canola flowers which have reached full bloom now.

Though this year’s spring festivals and evening illuminations are canceled due to COVID-19, you can still visit the pond safely, so grab your mask and remember to practice social distancing measures.
