At the southwest end of Miura Peninsula and a short 40-minute drive from Yokosuka Naval Base, Aburatsubo Bay is a great spot for a daytrip. The area is blessed with a beautiful yacht harbor, white-sand beach and pristine forests. The beautiful landscape of Aburatsubo was selected as one of the 50 most beautiful landscapes in Kanagawa Prefecture.

Stay in time to catch the beautiful sunset from Aburatsubo, where you’ll get views of Mt. Fuji, Sagami Bay and the yachts and boats in the water.

On the hill, Aburatsubo Onsen Kanchoso offers a pleasant hot soak of high-quality kochosen hypertonic hot mineral water overlooking the cliffy gulf.

Aburatsubo also has a small beach called Araihama Beach which boasts crystal-clear waters and was selected one of the nation’s 88 cleanest beaches in 2001. Enjoy a variety of summertime activities like boating, swimming and fishing here, and the beach also has toilet and shower facilities. The beach and the Kanchoso hot springs are connected via a walking trail where you can also enjoy a view of the Aburatsubo Inlet.

To experience more of the area’s local flora and fauna, head to Koajiro no Mori, a pristine forest with a river basin, swamp and mudflats. This is one of the only spots in the Kanto Plain considered to be untouched enough to maintain an unsullied natural environment for the over 2,000 species living there. Explore the 70-acre natural wonder via wooden paths and well-kept trails.

This picture-perfect location offers a little bit of everything in one spot making Aburatsubo a great daytrip destination.
