Located in the Ibaraki prefecture, in a town called Ushiku, there is a statue of a Buddha that has been recognized and recorded in the Guinness World Records.
This Buddha has been acknowledged as being the largest Buddha in the world! It is 120 meters tall and weighs about 200kg. The width of the left hand is 18 meters long, so the Buddha statues in Nara and Kamakura can fit right into its palm. Ushiku Daibutsu itself has many attractions for you to enjoy.
You can actually go inside the statue and there are many exhibits for you to look at and learn from. The highest you can go is up to its chest and there you will be able to gaze at scenery in all four directions. There are also gift shops located throughout the statue, so be sure to purchase a souvenir before you depart.
There are many attractions around the Buddha statue. They have a petting zoo located just behind the statue. There are bunnies, hamsters, and goats for you to feed and pet throughout the day. They also have shows where you can see monkeys perform all sorts of tricks, so be sure to check it out while you are there. Of course, all of this is included in your ticket. There is no entry fee to the side attractions.
There is also an alleyway comprised of souvenir shops and restaurants, which would be a nice place for you to take a break and have a snack before continuing with your sightseeing.
Kids under the 3 years old can enter the park and the buddha, free of charge. It would be wise to get the entire package, because it will cost you extra if you change your mind about entering the buddha or not after you purchase the ticket.
