Tateishi is a 40-foot-tall rock with beautiful pine trees off Akiya Beach in Miura Peninsula near Yokosuka Naval Base.

Enjoy an enchanting view of the shoreline and Mount Fuji in the distance from Tateishi Park. This scene is so breathtaking, in fact, that it has been depicted in traditional Ukiyo-e art. Among them, “Soshu Miura Akiya no Sato” (Akiya Village in Kanagawa’s Miura Peninsula) by Ukiyo-e artist Hiroshige Ando (1797–1858) is especially famous.

When the tide is low, you can walk up to the large grey rock usually surrounded by sea water.

There is a free large parking lot for 62 vehicles in the park.

If you’re looking for a nice sunset view, this park is a great pick for your late afternoon stroll.
