The circus is coming to town! And with it comes a flying trapeze, trainers of wild animals and funny clowns for all children, young and old, to enjoy.

Pop Circus, one of Japan’s most prominent circus groups, is set for a two-month run at the Uraga Dock in Yokosuka City from April 27 - June 23.

Since its inception in Osaka in 1996, Pop Circus has performed in over 170 cities in Japan.

Watch as 70 skilled performers demonstrate superhuman skills like flying trapeze, Death Wheel, aerial hoops and ribbon acrobatics. The show includes African Hand Voltage acrobatics from Ethiopia and “High Bowl” unicycle riders from China. Beyond the daring thrills, clowns, juggling and illusions will add touches of comedy and excitement. The two-hour performance has charmed more than 15 million spectators since its inception, according to the event provider.

Tickets are on sale now and available online (https://popcircus.tstar.jp/yokosuka2024). Grab a seat under the gigantic circus tent and enjoy the show!

About Uraga Dock

Uraga Dock is a historic brick drydock of the Sumitomo Industry Shipyard. The dock is the only of its kind in Japan and was built in 1899 before being decommissioned in 2003. Throughout its 104 years, over 1,000 ships were built or repaired there. Today, the Uraga Dock is preserved as one of the city’s important historical assets, and facility tours are often provided by the city.
