NAKED is a prominent Japanese digital art collective known for its innovative and immersive multimedia installations. Founded in 1997 by Ryotaro Muramatsu, the group merges art, technology, and design to create captivating visual experiences. The collective hosts an array of events throughout the year, and this summer the NAKED Garden One Kyoto is set to bring digital art to Japan's culture capital.
The event has 21 participating locations in total, including the likes of Nijo Castle, Heian Jingu Shrine, Nishi Hongan-ji Temple, Koshoji Temple (Uji), Enryaku-ji Temple (Mt. Hiei), and the Ace Hotel Kyoto. More details about venues can be found on the official NAKED website.
Please note that not all venues will have projection mapping displays for the entire event window – some are only participating for part of it.
GETTING THERE
Many of the 21 participating locations are in the Kyoto City area, including Kyoto Station which serves as a convenient starting point to explore other venues. The station is served by various lines, including the Tokaido Shinkansen, the JR Kyoto Line, and the Kintetsu Kyoto Line to name just a few.
