Congratulations to Ms. Brooke Nelson from Zama Middle High School in Zama, Japan. She recently received a $250 scholarship from the Brothers of the 13th International District of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. for writing an essay based upon the topic: “The U.S. Census projects that the United States will become a majority-minority country by the year 2045. How can we combat, prevent, and/or reduce prejudice, discrimination, and violence in a new, more diverse America?”

Ms. Nelson is the first student from schools in the Kanto Plains Community to receive the 13th International District High School Essay Contest Award. In addition, she also received a $1,000 scholarship from the Brothers of Upsilon Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. located in Mainland, Japan for the initial submission of her essay in October 2019. She plans to attend Liberty University this fall majoring in communications or business.
