On April 10, 2025, Ernest J. King Middle/High School proudly recognized fourteen outstanding career and technical students at its inaugural National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) Induction Ceremony held in the school’s Commons Area. Presiding over the ceremony was Luke Danjanic, the foundational and newly elected NTHS chapter president, who expressed excitement and pride in leading the school’s first group of inductees. This induction signifies the Ernest J. King Middle/High School’s dedication to academic excellence and technical mastery.

The ceremony commenced with the presentation of colors by the Ernest J. King NJROTC Color Guard, followed by powerful renditions of both the United States and Japanese National Anthems by Ms. Cinnamon Warner. Captain Michael K. Fontaine, Commander Fleet Activities Sasebo, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the importance of career and technical education and encouraging inductees to utilize their skills to positively impact their communities and future careers.

Students inducted into the NTHS met rigorous national criteria, including: active participation in a Career & Technical Education (CTE) pathway, maintaining a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA overall and specifically within CTE coursework, regular attendance at honor society meetings (weekly for officers, monthly for general members), active involvement in Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), submission of three letters of recommendation from school staff, and completion of at least 20 hours of community service.

The NTHS recognizes students who exhibit exceptional skill development, academic achievement, and dedication within their career and technical education pathways. Congratulations to Miu Best, Moa Best, Jasmine Burns, Luke Danjanic, Sarah Goleman, Amaris Guzman, Joanna Hall, Nehemiah King, Dylan Jones, Kaylee Mapa, Rosabella McGrath, Jesus Puello, and Raeney Reed for this remarkable achievement.

As the first class of inductees into the NTHS at Ernest J. King Middle/High School, these students have set a remarkable example for their peers. Their hard work, dedication, and passion for both academics and technical education serve as an inspiration to future students in the school’s Career & Technical Education programs. The NTHS chapter is excited to continue fostering an environment of excellence and achievement, providing students with the recognition they deserve while encouraging future generations to strive for greatness in their educational and career pursuits. This ceremony marks not just an individual accomplishment, but the beginning of a new tradition will benefit the entire Ernest J. King community for years to come.
