Camp Zama – The Army & Air Force Exchange Service is making it easier for Camp Zama Soldiers and families to make healthy choices when it comes to eating on-post.

As part of its BE FIT 360 program, which focuses on holistic wellness, the Exchange is committed to offering fresh, healthy choices for meals and snacks at its restaurants, and the Expresses.

All Camp Zama Exchange restaurants offer better-for-you options:

  • Nearly three-fourths of Taco Bell menu items have fewer than 500 calories. Diners can reduce calories and fat by up to 25% by ordering almost any menu item “Fresco style,” replacing ingredients such as mayo-based sauces, cheeses, and reduced-fat sour cream with fresh diced tomatoes. Taco Bell is an American Vegetarian Association-certified quick-serve restaurant, allowing diners to use any of Taco Bell’s more than 30 AVA-certified ingredients to make nearly 1 million unique vegetarian combinations and nearly 1,000 vegetarian breakfast combinations. AVA-certified menu items with 500 calories or fewer include the bean burrito, cheese quesadilla and Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito.

  • Subway offers more than a dozen sandwiches with 350 calories or fewer including turkey breast, oven-roasted chicken, Veggie Delight and Black Forest ham.

Shoppers can also find healthy snacks at the Express with options like fresh fruit, trail mix and nuts, tuna, grass-fed meat snacks and jerky, veggie chips and bottled water.

“As a partner in the Office of the Secretary of Defense’s Operation Live Well, the Exchange is all-in on supporting nutrition and wellness for the Camp Zama community,” said Camp Zama PX General Manager Nick Cucinello. “We’re committed to making sure Soldiers and families have healthy eating options wherever they go.”

Soldiers and families can learn more about better-for-you options by visiting the Exchange’s BE FIT hub page at ShopMyExchange.com/BeFit, where they’ll find nutritional information for Exchange restaurants, menu guides and more.
