Camp Zama - The Army & Air Force Exchange Service is helping Soldiers and Army families lead a BE FIT Lifestyle by offering a variety of better-for-you meal and snack options at Camp Zama.

“Helping Warfighters and their families lead a BE FIT lifestyle is critical to the Exchange’s mission of enhancing force readiness and resiliency,” said Camp Zama PX General Manager Nick Cucinello. “Whether in the food court or on the go, the Exchange makes it easy for members of the Camp Zama community to make the right choices for their nutritional needs and lifestyle.”

As a partner in the Office of the Secretary of Defense’s Operation Live Well initiative, the Exchange is dedicated to nourishing Soldiers, Airmen, Guardians and their families with better-for-you options at Exchange restaurants and Express convenience stores.

All Camp Zama Exchange restaurants offer better-for-you options:

  • Burger King’s beef patties are made from 100% beef with no fillers or preservatives. In September 2021, Burger King banned 120 colors, flavors and preservatives from artificial sources from all menu items served in its restaurants.

  • Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen diners can choose from more than 20 items with less than 350 calories.

  • Nearly three-fourths of Taco Bell menu items are less than 500 calories. Diners can reduce calories and fat by up to 25% by ordering almost any menu item “Fresco style,” replacing ingredients such as mayo-based sauces, cheeses and reduced-fat sour cream with fresh diced tomatoes. Taco Bell is an American Vegetarian Association-certified quick-serve restaurant, allowing diners to use any of Taco Bell’s more than 30 AVA-certified ingredients to make nearly 1 million unique vegetarian combinations.  AVA-certified menu items with 500 calories or less include the bean burrito, cheese quesadilla and Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito.

  • Subway offers more than a dozen sandwiches with 350 calories or less including turkey breast, oven-roasted chicken, Veggie Delight and Black Forest ham

Shoppers on the go can also make informed meal and snack choices. At Camp Zama’s Express stores, better-for-you options are easy to spot thanks to Healthier Choices, Healthier Lifestyle shelf tags.
