Yasukuni Shrine, a very well-known shrine in Tokyo, is seen as a symbol of Imperial Japan’s war history. Located near the Imperial Palace, it is a unique Shinto Shrine and provides insight into Japan’s modern war history. Yushukan, a war museum located on the grounds of the shrine, displays over 100,000 war artifacts of Imperial Japan including war-related paintings, documents, pieces of armor, weapons, tanks and airplanes.
