Nestled between Tokyo Bay and Sagami Gulf, Tsurugizaki Cape is a great spot to spend the day outdoors. This cape is on the southeastern end of Miura Peninsula and only a 40-minute drive from Yokosuka Naval Base.

Here, you can check out the unnamed historical lighthouse, known as Japan’s 7th oldest Western-style lighthouse, originally built in 1871. The cliff where this lighthouse stands offers great views of the ocean and Chiba Peninsula across the bay.

Down on the shore level, enjoy a leisurely walk with no crowds along flat white mudstone and rough black volcanic rocks. If you are lucky, you can spot crabs, small fish in pools of seawater collected amongst the rocks.
