Traditional instruments meet modern music in performance near Misawa AB
Drum Tao, world-renowned Japanese taiko drum group, is headed to Hachinohe City to offer its drum-musical “The Drummers” on July 2 and 3.
The group, which might be familiar for their performance of “SOS” by the late Avicii using traditional Japanese drums, will perform at the Hachinohe City Public Hall, a 30-minute drive from Misawa Air Base.
Audiences can expect traditional Japanese instruments like taiko drums, “shinobue” flutes and “koto” harps” employing various elements of rock, pop, ballad and classical music as breathtaking sequences of sword fighting are performed onstage.
Founded in 1993, Drum Tao has performed over 700 drum-musicals worldwide and captured an audience of over 8 million people, according to their website. Along with the events scheduled in Hachinohe, the group will also take its musical on the road with stops later this year in Minami Shimabara City near Sasebo Naval Base and in Nagato City near MCAS Iwakuni.
Don’t miss this chance to enjoy an old-meets-new performance by Drum Tao!
