A new shopping and commercial complex on the Yaesu side of Tokyo Station has finally opened.

Tofrom Yaesu Tower opened on Sept. 10 and features two buildings. One building, Tofrom Yaesu Tower, has 51 floors and four basement level floors. Next door, Tofrom Yaesu The Front has 10 floors and two basement level floors.

The lower levels of both buildings feature 55 shops and restaurants, a theater and conference rooms and medical clinic. By winter 2026, 13 more shops are slated to open at this complex.

Though this is a modern building, the interior reflects the history and culture of Yaesu. I found a portable shrine from Sanno Hie Jinja, a Shinto shrine historically linked to the Yaesu district permanently displayed, giving the area a festive atmosphere in the eye-catching wooden-hued atrium space, called Himonocho Square.

I saw each shop and restaurant is facing outward to the passageway. So, I could glimpse its interior and how chefs were cooking over the shop’s counter while walking along the passageway. And with uneven shop spaces, one large and other small, I felt as if I were walking outdoor street of the actual Yaesu District, with large skyscrapers and small traditional eateries and shops coexisting at the same area.

What is better, greenery and small garden spaces are placed here and there throughout the passageways, enhancing my feeling of strolling along an outdoor Yaesu shopping street.

According to a handout, which I got at the entrance, for the restaurant area, long‑established shops and restaurants from the Yaesu and neighboring Nihonbashi districts have branches here. You can try famous traditional washoku restaurants, soba shops with over a century of history, a salon offering various tea and sake, popular ramen shops, a jumbo gyoza specialty store, stylish Italian bar and yakiniku restaurant.

The two buildings are directly connected underground to Tokyo Station via the Yaesu Underground Shopping Mall, letting you easily access without worrying about rain or strong wind.

Head to the newly opened complex to see old and new Yaesu district!
