Okinawan culture is a vibrant tapestry of traditions and customs, which draws influence from various Asian and Southeast Asian cultures. With unique arts, music, and dance forms plus distinctive regional cuisine, the prefecture's culture quickly captivates visitors to the prefecture.
If you can't make it to Okinawa, though, the Ikebukuro area of Tokyo is hosting the Sunshine City Okinawa Mensore Festival this May – and the event showcases the charm of Okinawa in various ways.
Festival attendees can sip on a cold Orion beer and sample Okinawan foods at the Mensore Beer Terrace, or be entertained by live performances such traditional Eisa dance displays.
The festival itself is free to attend, but do bring yen if you plan on purchasing food or drinks.

GETTING THERE
The event takes place on the section of Sunshine 60 Street which connects Ikebukuro Station to the Sunshine City mall. The station is served by various lines, including the JR Yamanote Line and the Tokyo Metro
