Tsuyu rain season in Okinawa is finally over! On Monday, June 29, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) announced that the rainy season appeared to have concluded in the region. 

This announcement comes eight days later than average and 22 days later than last year. 

During this period, the prefecture experienced heavy rainfall, with 854 mm in Naha City and 774.5 mm in Nago City. From early-to-mid May and throughout the month of June, Okinawa saw a lot of rain, due to the rainy season front, low-pressure systems and typhoons, the JMA noted. 

Before the much-anticipated announcement, sunny weather continued for several days, giving some Okinawans the impression that the season was finally over. Those wishes were temporarily dashed with a typhoon bringing heavy rains to the islands one last time over the weekend.

Now that summer has officially arrived in Okinawa, why not hit the beach and soak up the sun?
