New Misawa station plaza will cultivate community, house noodle joint, provide tourist information
A new multi-use facility is set to open April 4 only a short 10-minute drive from Misawa AB’s main gate.
When Mikuru opens, this renovated former train station will house a waiting area for buses on its first floor and an information center and communal areas for quiet study on its second floor.
This shared area is made to cultivate local community and provide tourists visiting with information about the region, Misawa City’s Industry and Tourism Division said.
In addition to these features, popular noodle joint Misawa-eki Shokudo is set to open sometime in May, officials added.
The former Towada Kanko Line station is experiencing a revival after closing in 2011 and officials hope this symbol of Misawa’s past will experience new life with the new additions.
There is no ceremony scheduled on the day of opening, according to the official.
Visit and take a look at this new facility. And after touring its modern facility, be sure to drop by the Misawa-eki Shokudo to enjoy the time-honored Misawa taste. It sure will give you a chance to feel a history of Misawa.
