Get your geek on at Yokota, Iwakuni comic cons in October
Comic book lovers and cosplayers are going to want to mark their calendars for these upcoming cons. Both Yokota Air Base and MCAS Iwakuni will be hosting their very own comiccons in October and encourage attendees to deck out in their best cosplay.
First up, Iwacon’s two-day takeover will happen at the Lotus Cultural Center at the Atago Sports Complex on Oct. 5-6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This year’s event has expanded to the bigger venue and will include many performers, activities and contests. Presenters will include Manga artist Kenshi Hiorkane, voice actor Quinton Flynn of Jonny Quest-fame, and professional cosplayer Meisha Mock. Tickets are on sale now at $12 for a one-day pass, $20 for a two-day pass and $100 for VIP.
A few weeks later, check out Yokotacon at the Taiyo Community Center on Oct. 19 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Celebrities will be on hand at the event, including Dan Payn from the upcoming World of Warcraft, cosplayer Yaya Han, voice actress Rica Matsumoto, and more. The event will feature live ink brush painting, an acting panel, cosplay contest and an art contest. Submissions in 2D and 3D art will be accepted through Sept. 27 on the Yokota FSS website.
