Celebrate 30 years of Sanrio Puroland with a visit to Hello Kitty in Japan

New arrivals to Japan and those in the Kanto might want to take note and plan for a visit to Sanrio Puroland, also known as Hello Kitty Land, which is celebrating it’s 30-year anniversary in Tama.

You’ll find this Sanrio character haven only a short 40-minute drive from Yokota Air Base. Puroland is an indoor theme park featuring Hello Kitty and other Sanrio-themed attractions.

During the 30-year anniversary festivities, visitors will be treated to a 35-minute anniversary parade called “Hello, New World,” with all your favorite characters dancing around the center of the theme park. The parade is performed with social distancing measures in place and you’ll see that as well in the use of screens to project visits from some character who will participate remotely. The parade is scheduled for weekends, holidays and during the Japanese school spring break period from March 22 through March 31.

Another special activity is “Sweets Puro,” a collection of strawberry-themed photo op spots around the theme park, a VR stamp rally and an illumination show. Don’t forget to try their special seasonal strawberry foods and drinks while you’re there. And, pick up some cute strawberry and character souvenirs, too!

The park is perfect for the kids and Sanrio fans in your family. Get ready to celebrate the 30 years of Hello Kitty land with a kawaii time!
