The ‘Aomori 10 Cities Grand Festival’ comes to Misawa Sept. 24-25

After a two-year postponement, the Aomori 10 Cities Grand Festival is coming back to Misawa from Sept.24 -25.

The event is a joint effort with Aomori, Hirosaki, Hachinohe, Kuroishi, Goshogawara, Towada, Mutsu, Tsugaru, Hirakawa and Misawa cities started in 2012 as a way to promote local arts and products after the 2011 earthquake. Every year since 2012, the festival is held at one of the 10 cities, but in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic brought the festivities to a halt.

This year, the long-awaited event will come back to Misawa and feature a parade, performances, and lots of food. Check out the colorful Nebuta lantern floats, traditional dancing, kimonos and plenty more! Misawa will showcase the city’s American atmosphere with country music and a cruise of 50 Harley Davidson motorcycles.

In the food booths, try the regional delicacies like Aomori curry milk ramen, Hirakawa Yakisoba-gyoza (fried noodle dumplings), Kuroishi Yakusoba, Hirosaki apple pie and the Misawa Air Force Burger.
