U.S. Civil Air Patrol Cadet Col. Cayne Redmond, center, has the rank of cadet colonel pinned by his parents during his General Carl A. Spaatz Award ceremony at Misawa Air Base, Japan, May 27, 2026. Named after Gen. Carl A. “Tooey” Spaatz, the first Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force, the award recognizes cadets who successfully complete Civil Air Patrol’s highest level of leadership development.
