403rd Army Field Support Brigade Personality Spotlight: Kaoru Saito – Logistics Readiness Center-Honshu

Ms. Kaoru Saito is an administrative specialist at Logistics Readiness Center-Honshu and has been acting as supervisor of the Sagami Laundry Facility at Sagami General Depot, Japan, for the past seven months where she has led 45 other local national employees with everyday tasks, safety and welfare actions. Even with the increased workload, she has managed to run the laundry facility efficiently while providing excellent service. Ms. Saito also manages four retail laundry pickup/drop off points at Yokota Air Base, Camp Zama, Sagami General Depot, and the Sagamihara Housing Area in the Tokyo metropolitan area.

What other positions have you held with the U.S. Military:

I worked at the Camp Zama Army Air force Exchange Service (AAFES) Food court as a food outlet manager as well as a Sagamihara Housing Area commissary casher.

Tell us about your job and what you do:

I serve as the administrative specialist for the SGD Laundry Facility. I maintain the administrative system, supply register and record of issue and consumption data. I also purchase laundry supplies and equipment to ensure continued laundry operations.


How long have you been in this position?

2 years, 6 months.

What other duties are you responsible for?

I assist the acting Laundry Plant manager by supporting him with daily functions in the absence of the Master Labor Contract laundry supervisor. I also serve as an interpreter for employees and assist with all over-the-counter claims.

What are some of your accomplishments while at LRC-Honshu?

In the absence of the adjutant laundry manager and supervisor, I took charge of the operations and expertly executed all related duties and responsibilities.

What is the best thing about working at LRC-Honshu?

Working here is a great environment. I’m grateful every day for the support I get from these kind supportive people.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I really enjoy spending time with my two dogs.
