How it’s like to be a Military Child
By Audree Itugot
Do you wonder what it’s like to be a military child? Have you felt scared, excited, and sad at the same time? Or imagine going on a new adventure often? Or say goodbye a lot to your parents? A military child goes through a lot of feelings.
First, the feeling of excitement knowing you’ll get to live somewhere new. You can eat different foods and visit new places. It is exciting to make new friends. Moving somewhere new means you’ll go to a new school. Also, military children travel a lot.
Next, the feeling of sadness, fear and stress comes. Being a military child means you will be far away from your families and friends, changing schools often, and trying different foods. This can be stressful. Staying in a new place you’re not familiar with can be scary.
Furthermore, you feel sad saying goodbye to your family and friends. Because of deployment, you might not see your parents often. At times you might not see your parents for 6 months or longer. Also, you might not be able to talk to your parents for a while. This makes a military child feel sad.
Overall, military kids are adventurous, brave, and resilient. Military kids move a lot, face different challenges at the new place, and learn how to adjust quickly. Military kids adjust to a new house, school, and culture. Being a military child helps you learn new things. This is what a military child goes through.

My name is Luca Nardi, I am a military child living in Yokosuka, Japan. Being a military child has good things and bad things about it. One good thing is that you can explore new places and cultures. Also, you can make new friends from all over the world. So that’s why I think being a military child is cool. Being a military child could also be hard and difficult, like parent’s deployments and them always being away. Also, not living near other family members. It can also be difficult having to say goodbye to friends and make new friends. In conclusion, being a military child can be difficult but also has many good things about it.
