Operating since 1596, Toshimaya Shuzo Sake Brewery in Higashimurayama City is one of the oldest sake breweries in Tokyo.

byFood host Shizuka Anderson visits the historic sake brewery, to learn how the Japanese rice wine is made, and find out what lies in Toshimaya Shuzo’s rickety old attic.

At the end, Shizuka enjoys a sake tasting of 5 different types of Japanese sake (referred to as “nihonshu” in Japanese), including several types of junmai sake, which is made from only rice, koji, and water.
