There’s a massive variety of fast food to eat in Japan, some expensive and some cheaper than others. One place I have been visiting for quite some time is Nakau, a very affordable and delicious chain restaurant.

One thing I love about this restaurant is the quality of food and how great it is for random lazy days after work or for a quick lunch. For those stationed in Yokota Air Base, we are lucky to have 2 nearby. One in Hinode and the other near Musashino.

My usual order is either soba noodles or oyakodon bowl, which is a rice bowl with chicken and egg, soaked in an amazing broth.

The soba noodles are out of this world with every slurp with a deep broth to drink and enjoy.

For an order of Oyakodon and Soba, my total came to 890 yen (about $5.60). These items don’t have sides unless you want to pay extra for a salad or raw egg. Still, it’s much cheaper than grabbing an item from the food court on base.

When dining in, they offer complimentary green tea on the tables that pairs great with all the food they have. There are many other things on the menu but most of the items are not as expensive.

Usually when I visit during lunch, my meal takes less than five minutes to be served. Nakau also offers take-out for days when I don’t have time to cook or want to eat at home.

I’ve even stopped at Nakau restaurants while traveling around Japan since it’s cheap and always delicious.
