Fall for chestnuts this autumn at Starbucks Japan

Stripes Japan

Autumn is right around the corner and Starbucks Japan will soon change its seasonal offerings to match the time of year.

Starting September 1 through Sept. 20, the coffee giant announced it will start the “Artful Autumn @ Starbucks” campaign heavy on the marron, or chestnuts in Japanese. Chestnuts are a popular fall favorite for many traditional Japanese sweets and desserts.

The drinks and desserts for this campaign follow the theme of “Our Harvest Table” and were chosen by coffee ambassadors, which are Starbucks partners selected from different locations around the country.

All locations will offer the special Marone Cassis Frappuccino and desserts, including an apple and custard pie and Nameraka Chestnut Montblanc. The Frappuccino mixes chestnuts, coffee and cassis black currant syrup; it is available in a tall size only from 648 yen (about $5).

The seasonal lattes, however, will vary by region according to the location of the coffee ambassador who created each one starting at 520 yen through 660 yen depending on size and whether it’s dine-in or take-out. For instance, the Western Japan stores, which include Kyoto, Kobe and Nagasaki locations, will offer a Roasted Chestnut Latte featuring blonde roasted espresso and oat milk.

The Central Japan stores, which include west Tokyo, Yokohama, and Niigata locations, will offer a Honey Marron Latte. The Central Japan latte blends the chestnut flavor with blonde roasted espresso, and oat milk and is topped with whipped cream, candied nuts, and honey drizzle.

Customers in the East Japan region, including stores in the eastern half of Tokyo, Aomori, Fukushima, Chiba, and Ibaraki Prefectures, can try the Montblanc Latte. The latte also has blonde roasted espresso and oat milk topped with chestnut whipped cream and chestnut sauce. The seasonal items will be available while supplies last, so stop by your favorite Starbucks Japan store for a taste of autumn.
