Living Wax Museum at Arnn Elementary

Living Wax Museum at Arnn Elementary Second-graders at Arnn Elementary School held a "Living Wax Museum" May 3 inside the school's cafeteria on the SFHA installation.

The museum consisted of students representing famous people from history, pop culture, athletes and politics.Exhibited in life-like poses and wearing costumes, the students explained the actions of the person they imitated through a brief life-summarizing statement. The second-grade students memorized and recited the statements as parents, other students and teachers passed by their display and pushed their "on" button.

Jennifer McKinnon, second grade teacher at Arnn, said the students learned so many things from participating in this project. The students learned information about historical figures, but also how to research, summarize and memorize information, and public speaking, said McKinnon. "The students enjoyed dressing up, as well as sharing the great things that have been done in history," she said.

There were two showings; one for the students in the afternoon and another for the parents in the evening. Stephanie Lannutti, volunteer, helped to make the Living Wax Museum a success by providing students with many costumes and by tailoring costumes for students."We are very grateful to Stephanie," said McKinnon, "her generosity added an extra special touch to the student's presentations."
