Football: Perry wins air war against Zama

CAMP ZAMA, Japan – Just call Friday’s 31-26 win by Matthew C. Perry the Shion Fleming show.

The senior wide receiver accounted for all the Samurai’s points, catching four touchdown passes, kicking a field goal and booting all four extra points as Perry swept the season series from Zama, spoiling the Trojans’ homecoming.

“We had an inkling” two seasons ago that Fleming showed the potential to be a solid receiver, coach Frank Macias said. “He was really improving during practice. We just didn’t know if we had the right triggerman for him” at quarterback.
