Yokota Food Pantry looking for donations, volunteers

The Yokota Food Pantry

The Yokota Food Pantry is a recycling center for unopened, non-perishable food items, run by Chapter 1551 of the Air Force Sergeants Association.

Anyone can donate and anyone with a CAC/Dependent card can fill one grocery bag of items each week. AFSA’s goal for the pantry is the reduce food waste, offset the reduction in COLA, and promote a culture of resilience by taking care of one another on a local level.

Under the direction of AFSA Chapter 1551 Members, Paige Eiseman and Sergio Huezo, the pantry has flourished in the first year with nearly 11,000 items donated with 800 individuals picking up a total of over 9,000 items. Local base organizations are partnering with the pantry to further increase donations as well as getting the word out that the pantry is here for the entire Yokota Community.

The Pantry Board is always looking to expand the number of volunteers in order to stay open five days a week.
