Yokosuka chapel closed due to coronavirus
We anticipated this time coming, and it is now here. Out of an abundance of caution the Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka has decided to suspend religious services and programs at the Chapel of Hope until further notice. In keeping with the CDC and DOD's mitigation protocols that leadership is implementing across the Region and around the world, this official suspension has been effective since Mar. 16. These suspensions will stay in place until the Commander gives permission to restore programs and religious services at his discretion.
We are blessed to have a very large number of worship and ministry opportunities at the Chapel of Hope, as well as many groups scheduled to use our facility for events. As we discontinue regularly scheduled calendar items over the coming weeks, please call me, Chaplain Philip King, or my staff with any questions regarding cancelations and rescheduling. Please note that we do not know how long the current situation will last. The COVID19 restrictions evolve day today, so please check back frequently and we will keep the most updated information posted on our Facebook pages.
Please note that our Face Book page does not speak for any other services on the installation or in Yokosuka. Check the CFAY Face Book Page for the most current information regarding the base.
The Chapel Staff intends to continue to provide virtual reflections and online services, and will be available for individual counseling, prayer and support. Please do not hesitate to contact us at #243-2010, or the Duty Chaplain at #080-5016-6836.
We are at the beginning of an important journey together. Let us endeavor to encourage and support one another in the coming days. Be kind and considerate; we never know what another person is going through. We will get through this together.
Be a blessing, be at Peace.
CAPT Philip King
Command Chaplain
CFAY Chapel of Hope
